The other weekend, Greg and I took William to Auburn for his first football game.
We lost. But, it was a truly A+ experience and we had so much fun “adventuring” as a family!
We left the house at 6:30am (aka zero dark thirty) and made pit stops at Starbucks, Chick-fil-A, McDonald’s and Love’s.
The amount of needs a three year old and his parents have for a 2 hour and 2 minute drive is well, interesting.
Anyways, it was so special being on campus and showing William all of the places where Mommy and Daddy used to live, work and play. Truly, it got us in our feels, reminiscing on the “good ‘ol days.”
As we were walking around, Greg and I were conversing about and admiring the perfectly tree lined brick walkways, when Greg told me that Auburn actually dyes the concrete on campus a very specific shade, to make it appear older, weathered and well, more traditional and stately. And yes, even when it’s a brand new “pour.”
He then let me know that there are specific standards for the bricks and the trees, too.
Apparently, Auburn uses a distinct color of brick and is known for their Burr Oaks. And lemme tell you, these trees are SO pretty! I picked up acorn after acorn on the ground and brought them home with me because I swear to you, they are the quintessential fall/harvest acorn. Seriously, DM me on Insta here and I’ll send you a pic.
All that to say, it got me thinking. About our businesses and our brands and yes, our lives.
Can you say that you’re operating with this level of intentionality, dedication, vision and standards? In your biz, but also, in your life?
Because like, wow, this is legit, high level soaring with eagles kinda stuff.
But if not, it’s probably time to take stock and really evaluate and get clear on well, a lot of things, because intention always wins.
Even if it’s not on the football field. 😉
