Recently (like, a few days ago), I was chatting with a client.
She was disappointed in a recent decision she had made and was feeling a bit frustrated with herself.
It was then that she said something to me that had a totally profound and light bulb lightning strike kind of moment.
She said this decision was her “bridge” to XYZ. (XYZ being something she really wants!)
Oh my gosh. YES.
And it got me thinking…about bridges.
LOL. Yes, bridges.
They’re a super strong resource/platform that connects us from where we are to where we want to go.
We literally can’t get to “the other side” without them.
In fact, Merriam Webster defines a bridge as “something that is intended to reconcile or form a connection between two things.”
And yet, how often are we experiencing these bridges and “bridge moments” in our lives and a) not even paying attention or realizing it and b) not even being mindful or thankful for the safe journey it provides?
If you stop for just a moment – you’ll know the answer – A LOT.
Sure, we all have those moments.
Of doubt, of frustration, of disappointment, of all the things. We are human and I hate to break it to you, but it’s gonna happen.
It’s also completely safe and okay to feel and experience all of these things.
The trick is to not get stuck in them or live in them.
But what if we started identifying some of these decisions, bad calls, unfortunate events, etc. as what they really are – our bridges!
Like, what a beautiful reminder that these womp womp moments connect us to what we really want and get us to where we truly want to be (not to mention – safely!)
As I said above, we literally cannot get to the other side without them.
It’s these kinds of games that my brain loves to play. 🙂
To see the upside in (legit) EVERYTHING.
If you’ve never thought about it this way before, I hope you will.
And I hope you’ll take a moment today and this week to identify some bridges you’ve experienced before.
Those moments where it wasn’t what you wanted, but that connected you to where you were going and delivered you safely, surely and right on time.
