If you’re anything like me, you probably like to win.
(Side note: If you’re reading this and you actually don’t, no judgement whatsoever, but you probably will want to unsubscribe, because you won’t have any fun here.)
And if you’re anything like me, you enjoy achieving. Making an impact. Showing up fully with your light in this world here, there and everywhere (in whatever way/shape/form that means to you).
And yet, sometimes, it can feel like we’re doing anything but. Ugh.
“Failure” here. “Failure” there. (Yes, I used air quotes. I don’t truly believe in failure. It’s simply a nonnegotiable exit on the highway to success.)
Unplanned outcome over here, not what we expected there.
Bump in the road here, detour over there.
Too often though, I see this mentality shake y’all up. And to be fair, I’ve been there plenty of times myself.
And yeah, it sucks.
But here’s the thing:
We’ve gotta shift our perspective and zoom out a little.
Like, we’ve gotta give ourselves some of that 30,000 feet up view, ’cause that’s where we soar.
So even if this week, this month, this quarter or this year hasn’t gone the way you had envisioned, take a beat and stop to look at how far you’ve come.
You versus you.
Day in, day out.
Season over season.
Year over year.
When you take the time to really look back at what you’ve been a part of and what you’ve accomplished and recognize how far you’ve truly come, it kinda starts to get ridiculous. (In a really good way, of course!)
And just for fun, here’s what I’m talking about:
Y’all, twelve years ago I booked my first planning client at a bridal show (lolz). I charged her $1,000. And yet the most recent event I produced earned me a fee that was greater than my entire salary and bonus structure I earned at my corporate job (when I was still there full time) back in 2017. (!!!)
Like, what?
Yeah, anything is possible. In fact, it’s all possible.
Anyways…
Or what about my health? Six years ago I was 60+ pounds heavier, a whopping ten dress sizes bigger. And now? All of that weight is gone (and then some!) and I’m even privy to some serious muscle definition. Oh yeah, and I’ve since had a freaking baby. 😉
And you know what? It feels good.
Someone once told me that in order to get to where we want to go, we need to look at where we’ve been.
And while I don’t advocate living in the past, we do gotta give credit where credit is due and take some time to look in the rearview mirror.
So go on, where can you give yourself some credit?
In fact, drop me a line. I wanna hear about it. (Seriously!)
