Happy April 1st! And while you may have missed me from your inbox last Monday (ooops, sorry!) I promise I’m not fooling around with you today.
I just got back from spending a wonderful week immersed in all things Texas and Hill Country at the gorgeous Camp Lucy in Dripping Springs, Texas for The Hybrid Co, where I led a masterclass. More on that later!
And one thing stuck out to me that I wanted to share here. There was a common thread through a lot of my convos and chats and connections with folks.
They’re all watering themselves down in how they approach their audience, their clients, their online presence, their medium/body of work and yes, their marketing.
And they’re ADMITTING it!
Have y’all ever had a watered down drink? Yeah, it’s YUCK.
It could literally be your favorite thing ever (like the lavender lemonades w/ locally produced gin I was sipping on last week!) but once you water it down, just ew, hard pass, no freaking thank you.
Anyways, these folks are out here presenting themselves (and collectively, their clients) as vanilla, when they KNOW they are straight up rocky road, pistachio and dairy free cherry cheesecake.
Like, COME ON!
So, take this as a reminder: nobody wants a watered down drink. Not even you! And nobody wants vanilla when what they’re really itching for is Heath bar.
So, as I’m known to say…freaking give the people what they want, ok?!? 🙂
Embrace who you are (hey, dairy free cherry cheesecake is totally a vibe!) and let that freak flag fly baby. It’s the only way your people are gonna find you, anyways.
