Last week I hosted a free, live online class…33 Lessons: Everything I Need to Know About Life and Biz I Learned from Professional Basketball and it was so fun! An after hours virtual happy hours of sorts with some really great takeaways. 

I know I told y’all that I’m a big college football fan (and I am!) but if you didn’t already know, I’m also a pretty decent fan of the NBA. They’re the GOAT of all professional sports, in my opinion.

Anyways, today I wanted to share a few takeaways from the class.

TAKEAWAY #1: THEY PERFORM IN THE NOISE.

Get real with yourself here on this one: on a scale of 1-10, how distracted are you? By social media? By what others are doing? By what others are saying? By something going on in your family, your kid’s school, on the news, in your community?

When you allow these things to interfere with your game, you’re not focusing and you’re also giving your power away. And while we’ve already talked about that in this space before, another reminder doesn’t hurt. 🙂

Cuz here’s the thing y’all, life is gonna life and in order to win the game you’re gonna have to get comfortable performing in the noise, period. 

TAKEAWAY #2: THEY MISS A TON OF F*CKING SHOTS

…like ALL THE TIME and yet…they make it mean absolutely nothing about themselves or their abilities, are completely unemotional and detached from it and JUST KEEP PLAYING THE GAME. So, where are you taking things personally and assigning meaning to stuff that doesn’t have any? This is a form of self sabotage. Drop the guilt, shame and pressure around it and just quit this habit cold turkey. Then, keep playing the game. 

TAKEAWAY #3: THE REBOUND IS ALMOST ALWAYS WORTH IT.

It’s true what they say: fall down nine times, get up ten. When you do this in your life and biz, you win. Because, it’s not about the fact that you “missed” but that you took another shot. Seems easy enough, right? But, where are you ignoring the rebound? It could be costing you the game.
