As a multifaceted woman who wears many hats and honors many titles (gah, can y’all relate?!), the one I’m most proud of is encourager.

Meet Courtney

Well, it’s officially been a doozy around these parts lately. I can barely believe it, but I didn’t actually die. And no, I’m not talking about the pollen. 😉

In fact, I am just now coming up for air after three back to back weeks on the road.

As I’m sure many of you can relate (it’s spring season after all, the time when everything is happening AT THE SAME TIME and there are many, many balls in the air) I wanted to share some tangible and practical sentiments that have carried me through this season in hopes they can serve you well.

Show yourself (and others) some grace.

Seriously. The more pressure you place on yourself (and others), the more icky and messy everything gets and for no good reason. Take a deep breath and know that you are worthy, loved and incredibly, incredibly good at what you do. So show up like it, please and thank you.

Stay hydrated and sleep well.

Again, seriously. Aim for at least 64 oz of water a day and if you can throw in a Vitamin Water Zero or Gatorade Zero for some electrolytes, your body will truly thank you. Then get to sleep at a reasonable hour. Personally? I require ten hours. And you bet your ass I get it. I know I can’t function without it, so why would I do that to myself and those who are counting on me? Sleep is so fundamental for our bodies to rest and recover and operate at peak and optimal performance, it just doesn’t make any sense if you’re not prioritizing it.

Get the first flight home available to you once you’ve wrapped your responsibilities.

Whether it’s the 10pm late nighter or the 5am early birder, not burning another day away from home will do big time wonders to your mind and body as well as your responsibilities. And lemme tell ya, pulling into my driveway at 9am when everyone back at the conference/retreat/whatever it is is just waking up feels so damn good!

Protect your calendar ahead of departure and upon your return.

I block a day before hitting the road to run personal errands, wrap up work stuff (or get a little ahead!) and just do all the things. I then do the same for my first day back – unpack, reset and get back to normal.

When in doubt, brain dump.

Your nervous system can thank me later. 🙂

The best part? Literally everything I listed here is FREE. No barrier to entry required. If you aren’t doing these, the only thing holding you back is yourself. And you already know what I have to say about that.
